Keeping Charanga Fresh

A deeper look into the Charanga scheme and ideas to expand on the activities to help it remain fresh for you and your school to use again and again

DDMP logoCharanga is a packed scheme of lessons and activities to deliver music curriculum teaching in school, even if you are not a music specialist.

This training explores new approaches to delivering lessons year on year and how to keep these activities fresh, as well as introduce extension activities and ideas that compliment the scheme.

What will be included?

  • Thinking about 'why':
    Gain insight into the importance of activities such as call and response, improvisation and learning songs in childrens' understanding and appreciation of music
  • Thinking about 'how':
    Explore strategies that break down the processes of teaching those activities, learning songs and using instruments
  • Musical outcomes:
    Explore ways to improve the quality of the musical outcomes for your pupils
  • Go off screen and be creative:
    Explore creative extension activities and different approaches to delivering the activities that compliment the scheme beyond the screen

  • This event is for KS1 and KS2 teachers and TAs who currently use a Charanga scheme in their school (original or Model Music Curriculum schemes)
