North East Derbyshire Music Centre (NEDMC)
North East Derbyshire Music Centre (NEDMC) hosts groups and ensembles for young musicians from beginner to advanced abilities in the Chesterfield and North East region of Derbyshire
We support music-making in the area by giving students the opportunity to develop as musicians through playing or singing in our many ensembles, our choir, bands and orchestras and catering for beginners to advanced level.
Each ensemble performs at least twice a year with some giving additional performances in the local community.
We hold two Open Mornings a year to encourage new students and we regularly give performances with pupils from local junior schools. We have close, supportive links with the Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership and, through these, have enjoyed collaborative events with the other Music Centres within the Music Education Hub.
Some of our advanced students also play in City and County Ensembles, taking part in residential courses at points throughout the year. Our hard-working ensemble directors are mainly local instrumental teachers who provide vital links with schools in the surrounding areas.
We are a friendly, welcoming Music Centre where staff support our committed young musicians as they develop increasing confidence and musical skills. We pride ourselves on our positive working atmosphere. Feedback from parents and students shows a high level of support for the standards and ethos of the centre.
