Vacancy: Accredited Guitar Teacher

Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership is looking to accredit a self-employed teacher of guitar to cover and build pupil numbers in schools in the North East area of Derbyshire

DDMP logoVirtually all instrumental and vocal teaching is undertaken by instrumental teachers who have, through interview, been accredited by the Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership (local authority).

We are currently looking to accredit a teacher of guitar to cover and build pupil numbers in the North East of Derbyshire.

It is essential that candidates have access to a car and can offer at least one day of teaching. The start date is flexible, but we ideally want someone to begin in the summer term.

Further details

  • Working arrangements:  All work is undertaken on a self-employed basis. Teachers have, through interview, been accredited by the Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership. Once accredited, self-employed instrumental teachers are given the opportunity to create their own timetable of teaching, dependent on demand. Teachers are supported by their Area Leader and a series of continuing professional development provided by the Music Partnership.
  • Locations: North East Derbyshire covers an area encompassing Eckington, Bolsover, Shirebrook, Chesterfield, Alfreton and surrounding villages.
  • Accreditation process: You will be asked to perform a short piece of less than three minutes and teach a 15-minute guitar lesson and show planning. There will also be an interview week commencing 16 May. The accreditation process is explained in full before making an application.
  • Enhanced DBS checks: All successful applicants will be subject to Enhanced DBS checks. A DBS check is a record of a person’s criminal convictions and cautions, carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service. An Enhanced DBS check covers spent and unspent convictions, reprimands, cautions, and final warnings and any other relevant information held by police, plus a check of DBS barred lists. Any information shown will be used to ascertain a candidate’s suitability for role.
