Derbyshire Youth Choir

The Derbyshire Youth choir is a new flagship SATB choir for Derby and Derbyshire, bringing together many of the most talented young musicians from schools and music centres across the city and county.

DDMP logoThe choir met for the first time in September 2021 to rehearse a diverse set of SATB repertoire. The overwhelming success has led us to organise another event in the spring term 2022, including a residential course and formal premier performance.

The choir will rehearse a variety of repertoire spanning over 400 years from different cultures and genres to challenge and coach young people’s vocal skills. The courses are supported by choral specialists ensuring all pupils achieve the highest standards.

Singers are often members in their local music centre or school choirs, with the option of continuing to sing with the group until the age of 21.

The choir is directed by Daniel Timmins and has recently been rehearsing pieces such as Vivaldi Gloria, Tavener The Lamb, and excerpts from Dear Evan Hansen.
