Applying for an Assisted Bursary

Information about how to apply for the scheme to help with lesson and instrument loan costs

DDMP logoDerby & Derbyshire Music Partnership helps with the cost of instrumental and vocal lessons through various schemes, one being the Assisted Bursary Scheme.

Pupils who on this scheme benefit from

  • A lower cost lesson | Instrumental teachers receive a subsidy for some of the cost of the lesson, leaving only the balance to be paid by the family. This amount can vary depending on factors including lesson length and the teachers' rate.
  • A free instrument loan | Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership will loan the pupil an instrument free of charge for up to one year.

Is my child eligible for the Assisted Bursary?

To qualify for this scheme your child must be taught by a teacher accredited to the Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership and either:

  • You receive one of the following:
Free School Meals, Income Support, Income based Job Seeker's Allowance and/or Working Tax Credits
  • You are a carer/school applying on behalf of a Looked After Child, or Virtual School pupil (evidence of eligibility will be verified in local authority records)

What evidence will I need?
