S.Anselms Piano Competition

S. Anselm’s Preparatory School & College invites young pianists to take part in the 2020 Piano Competition, to be held on Saturday 29th February

SAnselms

The S. Anselm’s Piano Competition is an annual contest for young pianists aged 6 to 18 from schools across Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and surrounding counties.  Pianists compete in graded classes from Preparatory Level to Grade 8 before eminent national adjudicators. There is a wonderfully positive and supportive atmosphere and where time permits, adjudicators offer masterclass style feedback after each class.  The first and second place winners of each class are then invited to perform in a finalists’ concert at which competition cups are presented to the overall winners.

We are delighted to confirm that our 2020 adjudicators will be Ben Andrew, Head of Keyboard at Stowe School and Anne Bolt, Head of Keyboard at Oakham School. This year's competition will be held on:

Saturday 29 February 2020, 9.00 start
S.Anselm's School, Bakewell DE45 1DP

About the competition...

  • Entry is divided into three classes: Graded classes (1 to 8), Prep Class (pre-grade for beginners up to age 11), and Duet Class / 6 Hands (masterclass with no adjudication)
  • Classes will take place concurrently in both the S. Anselm’s Library and the Hargreaves Hall, where all competitors will have the opportunity to perform on a grand piano.
  • The closing date for competition entries is Friday 21st February.  Places for busy classes will be allocated on a first come, first served basis so we encourage you to submit your entries as soon as possible.
  • Class timings will be confirmed after the closing date, to enable us to accommodate competitors who chose to enter more than one class (wherever possible).
