Count Me In with the Orchestra!

Schools engaging in a full-year programmes of Classroom Instrumental Learning (CIL) are invited to take part in our exciting new opportunity to play alongside a professional orchestra of some of the finest musicians in the UK! 

All necessary resources for the pieces/songs will be provided to programme Deliverers and will be prepared during the weekly Classroom Instrumental Learning lessons.

  Tuesday 16 June, 1.45–2.55pm
• Derby Arena
  Thursday 18 June, 10.45–11.55am and 1.45–2.55pm

Specially developed for children

A concert packed with exciting film music has been prepared by Carrot Productions – Hub partners and specialists in high-impact performances for young people. These will be performed by an outstanding full orchestra of professional musicians chosen for their ability to engage with audiences. 

Specially arranged pieces have been prepared in collaboration with DDMP teachers for a high-quality learning experience, giving the opportunity for pupils to perform alongside the pros – including Wallace & Gromit, Waltz of the Flowers, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Two further movie songs – Touch the Sky (from Brave) and This is Me (from Greatest Showman) – will be included for everyone to sing together.

How to get involved

As we anticipate this event will be popular, so we want to give all schools a fair opportunity to take part.

• Ballot application: Please apply for places, indicating your preferred date and venue and the number of places needed, by Monday 23 February.
• Ballot draw: A random draw will take place on Tuesday 24 February. We will then contact schools to confirm whether they have been successful or placed on a waiting list. We ask successful schools to confirm their offer by Friday 6 March, after which we may begin to offer any unconfirmed seats to other schools.
• Remaining tickets: Any remianing tickets will be available to book on a first come first served basis.
• Tickets: £7.50 each, with one free adult place per 10 children. All essential carers are free. 
• Transport: Schools are responsible for booking their own transport to and from the event.
• Eligibility: This event is for pupils doing a full year Classroom Instrumental Learning programme with Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership this academic year.
