We continually develop our programmes, activities and the provision of instrumental lessons which provies working opportunities across Derby and Derbyshire all year round. The areas we are actively recruiting are listed below.

Instrumental and Vocal Teaching

Instrumental and vocal teaching is undertaken by teachers who have, through interview, been accredited by the Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership.

Once accredited, teachers are given the opportunity to create their own timetable of teaching, dependent on demand. Teachers are supported by an Area Leader and a series of continuing professional development.

Applying for accreditation

Applications are open all year round for all instruments, but we have a particular need for:

• New Mills area
  Upper strings (violin and viola) to initially teach up to 1.5 days of small group and one-to-one lessons in local schools.

Peak District String Development Opportunity

An exciting new opportunity for a self-employed upper strings or cello specialist to help develop string teaching in the Peak District.

This role involves delivering instrumental lessons in local schools across Buxton, leading weekly after-school ensembles in Bakewell and Buxton, and assisting with Classroom Instrumental Learning as a support practitioner.

Ensemble Director

South East Derbyshire Music Centre (SEDMC), based in Kirk Hallam, is looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Ensemble Director to lead their Foundations String Orchestra.

As ensemble director for our Foundations String Orchestra, you will play a key role in nurturing the musical growth of our youngest string players. This position is about much more than leading rehearsals; it’s about building confidence, developing core ensemble skills, and creating a welcoming environment where beginners can thrive and enjoy making music together.
