Peak District Strings Development Opportunity
An opportunity for an upper strings/cello specialist to grow school teaching and ensembles for young musicians in Buxton and Bakewell.
Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership (DDMP) and Peak District Music Centres (PDMC) are seeking to work with an upper strings and/or cello specialist to develop strings teaching in schools and ensemble opportunities for children and young people in the Peak District area.
This role would be self-employed, and require accreditation from Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership, and a commitment to working as part of the strings team with Peak District Music Centres.
What would be involved?
- Instrumental teaching: Develop strings teaching in local schools in the Peak District, including Buxton and Bakewell areas, as an accredited teacher, supported by DDMP.
- Ensemble leading: Work with PDMC to develop and lead weekly after-school and early evening ensembles for young string players in Bakewell and Buxton.
- Classroom Instrumental Learning (CIL): Support CIL teaching as a Music Support Practitioner alongside expert strings deliverers in local schools, developing your skills and grow further opportunities to expand teaching opportunities in the area.
- Enhanced DBS checks: All successful applicants will be subject to Enhanced DBS checks. A DBS check is a record of a person’s criminal convictions and cautions, carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service. An Enhanced DBS check covers spent and unspent convictions, reprimands, cautions, and final warnings and any other relevant information held by police, plus a check of DBS barred lists. Any information shown will be used to ascertain a candidate’s suitability for role.
