1. Focused listening: Every day sounds

Are you good at listening? Watch this YouTube video by Chaereen Pak and pay really close attention to what you can hear. See if you can work out what each sound is.

Teaching notes

  • Listen | Listening is one of the three most important skills in music. There are about 3 seconds before the answer is given on screen so you might want to pause the video clip if children need a bit more time.
  • Think about | What would be the best place in a house to sit and listen to some everyday sounds? Have a go at recording some sounds on a phone perhaps. Have any of their class friends heard the same sounds or different ones?

2. Singing: It's Time for Another Day

Join in with Rachel and learn to sing an echo song that will help you get ready for the day ahead.

  • If you are on a desktop or tablet you may need to make the video full screen to better operate the controls

Teaching notes

  • Listen and repeat | All the lines in each verse are echoed, so you don't need to remember lots of different lyrics, but make sure you're listening carefully, so you can echo what you hear
  • Chorus | The chorus is not echoed, but it is carefully taught on the video – have your hands ready to use whilst you're singing
  • What do you feel? | When you're listening to and singing this song what mood does it make you feel? Can you show this with your facial expression whilst you're singing?
