Frequently asked questions about attending the City & County Youth Wind Band
We're looking forward to seeing you at Lea Green! We've listed everything we think you need to know before coming, but if you have any questions, scroll down to the bottom to see how to get in touch with us.

Important details
- When and where is the course?
Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 March 2025 at Lea Green Centre, nr. Matlock DE4 5GJ

- When to arrive
Please aim to arrive between 9.45-10.00am. Rehearsals will begin at 10.45am.
- What to bring
Your instrument, a music stand (labeled), a pencil for rehearsals, enough clothes for two days (including warm clothes in case it's cold), something to sleep in, toiletries, towel, concert clothes and any personal items or medications that are needed.
- Concert clothes
Black trousers and shoes with wind band polo shirts. New members can get a band polo on the day of the concert (£10).
- Concert tickets
You can buy tickets for £5 (+booking fee) on Ticketsource. A limited number of tickets will be available on the door for £6 and can be bought by cash (though we will have very little change)
- Concert
Sunday 23 March, 3.00pm at County Hall, Smedley Street, Matlock (Open in Google Maps).

Answers to common questions
- Can parents stay and watch some of the course?
Unfortunately, we cannot host parents at the course other than during check in.
- Are there any refreshments outside of meals on residential courses?
There will be basic refreshments available to buy. Water and hot drinks will be provided.
- Does anything need to be prepared in advance?
Unless you are sent repertoire in advance specifically, participants do not need to prepare anything before attending.
- Can over 18s drink alcohol / smoke?
Smoking and drinking is not allowed on the Lea green site at all.
- Can my child bring a friend?
Unfortunately not for this course, but they are welcome to apply for an audition for the next course.
- Do I need to transport my child from Lea Green to the concert in Matlock?
No, coach transfer is provided to all participants from the course to the concert.
- How do we get tickets to the concert?
We will be in touch with a private link to buy tickets online nearer the time.
- Do we need to sign out at the end of the conert?
No, families can take their children straight after the concert
Payments
- How do I make an online payment?
Please do this using Derbyshire County Council's payment service. This link is in your confirmation email too.
- Can I pay on arrival?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash or card payments when the course starts.
- I think something has gone wrong with my payment, what do I do?
