Groups and ensembles

Any musical ability is welcomed at Derby Music Centre, with groups for total beginners up to an advanced standard.

• Where and when?
  The majority of groups operate from Derby Music Centre's base at Beaufort Community Primary School, Hampshire Rd, Chaddesden, Derby DE21 6BT on Saturday mornings (unless otherwise stated).

Any ability

• Samba Band
  For musicians with a feel for a beat

• Voices Choir
  For pupils in Y3-7 of any ability

Beginner level
Up to grade 1 standard

• Wind Club
  For beginner wind and brass players up to grade 1
• String Club
  For beginner string players up to grade 1
• St. George's String Club
  An after school satellite group for strings at St. Georges Catholic Voluntary Academy, Littleover
• Moorhead Ukulele Club
  An after school satellite group for ukulele players at Landau Forte Academy, Moorhead

Some ability
Approximately grade 1-3 ability

• Junior Wind Band
  For wind, brass and percussion players
• Junior Strings
  For string players

Intermediate ability
Approximately grade 3-5 ability

• Intermediate Wind Band
  For wind, brass and percussion players
• Intermediate Flute and Clarinet Ensembles
  For flute players
• Intermediate Brass Ensemble
  For brass players
• Intermediate Strings
  For string players

More advanced ability
Approximately grade 5/6+ ability

• City of Derby Youth Orchestra
  For orchestral woodwind, brass, string and percussion players

  For jazz players
• Senior Flute and Clarinet Ensembles
  For flute players
