Get involved at Derbyshire Youth Folk Ensemble
Opportunities for musicians of all ages and abilities with a love of folk music | Based at various locations around Derbyshire throughout the year
The Derbyshire Youth Folk Ensemble (DYFE) is a newly established group of young musicians interested in learning traditional styles and techniques in playing traditional English dance music.
A small group of young musicians met online in July 2020, with tutor Sarah Matthews and Frances Watt, and learnt two tunes entirely by ear, phrase by phrase to produce a recorded track.
DYFE welcomes players of any and all instruments, including singers.
The Derbyshire Youth Folk Ensemble, ran in partnership between Folk 3D and Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership (DDMP), meets at various times in the year from different location.
Workshops for the DYFE will resume in September 2021.
